Director and producer Omoni Oboli, a well-known name in Nollywood, was born on April 22, 1978, in Benin City, Edo. She is the creator of Wives On Strike. In the past, Omoni had won praise for her work as executive producer on the films The First Lady and Being Mrs Elliot.
Omoni’s acting career began with her first film appearance as a secretary in the 1996 film “Bitter Encounter.” She then said, “Shame.” She then went on to portray the leading lady in three important films, including “Not My Will,” Destined to Die,” and “Another Campus Tale.” Omoni quit the movie business in 1996 after a brief stint to finish her undergraduate studies. She got married right away after graduating from college and didn’t work in the sector again for ten years. She claimed that there was a particular incident that nearly cost her movie career. When she returned to the screen in 2009, she discovered that the industry no longer accommodated her so she then made the decision to begin her own movie production.
Omoni has written many screenplays, including those for her films “Wives on Strike” and “The Rivals,” which she co-produced with a friend and received the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival’s Best International Drama Award for. Since the festival’s establishment in 2003, it was the first Nigerian movie to get its world premiere. The festival’s jury gave the film a score of 3 out of 4. In films like The Figurine (2009), “Anchor Baby” (2010), and “Fifty,” Omoni Oboli has acted in leading parts (2015). She is also the first Nollywood actress to win Best Actress at two international film festivals that are not African nor Nigerian in the same calendar year (2010) For her leading part in the film “Anchor Baby,” she did this at the Harlem International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards.

In 2016, the Wives on Strike series began. The satire centres on a group of market ladies who forbade their husbands from having sex with them in an effort to get them to speak out on behalf of a young girl whose her father forced to wed a guy against her choice. The #ChildNotBride topic was current when the movie was made, and many liked it.
A Sequel, Wives on Strikes:
The Revolution was released in 2017; this time, Omoni Oboli tackles a different social problem, gender-based violence.
This time, the plot had a fresh twist and some more staff, but the women were revolting to get what they wanted. The main themes of the film were female empowerment and women’s struggles for equality in society.
The beginning of the film was strong, with the ladies meeting to discuss aiding and assisting one another. So it happened that one of their members was unintentionally killed by her husband, who had been beating her constantly. She was talking to her husband when he began beating her, and when he accidentally pushed her, she hit her head on a sharp corner and began bleeding, and before he knew what was happening, she had passed away. Because he was afraid to admit that he had accidentally killed his wife, he carried her to the street to be dumped, hoping no one would notice. Little did he know that his first daughter was awake that night to see the entire incident. She claimed to be asleep when he returned. She notified the ladies later, and they made the decision to strike in order to gain the government’s attention. They wished to abolish the practice of beating women by the State passing legislation against it. Public opinion was favourable despite the fact that this was well-known and somewhat repetitive.
The third entry in the Wives on Strike: The Uprising franchise, a sociopolitical comedy film series created and directed by Nigerian director Omoni Oboli, is scheduled for release on October 28, 2022, and it looks to be just as exciting as the first two.

Box Office Forecasts
The sequel’s first two instalments earned positive reviews and set several records at the Nigerian box office. The stated box office revenue was N60 million. The third instalment of the sequel, which is being produced by the same producer and team, is anticipated to have a big influence on the Nigerian box office.
I would give them an 8/10 since they consistently have a solid balance of humour and plot. Good cast, crew, and production values. Not sure how to recommend it, however on October 28, 2022, you can see this movie if you want to laugh a lot.
