A Note on the Producer:
On August 24, 1977, Akindele was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria. She is one of three children (two girls and one boy). Her father is a former school principal, while her mother is a medical practitioner.
She attended Grace Children’s School in Gbagada, Lagos State. Akindele rose to fame after starring in the popular sitcom “I Need to Know,” which was sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and aired from 1998 to 2002.
She obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now known as MoshoodAbiola Polytechnic, as well as a Law degree from the University of Lagos.
Funke Akindele plays Bisi, a quirky yet smart secondary school student. When FunkeAkindele made an appearance in the film Jenifa in 2008, it was her big break. She had no idea that the name of the movie would become her moniker.
Akindele plays the lead role in the well-liked television series Jenifa’s Diary, which is still running, alongside Fisayo Ajisola, Falz, Juliana Olayode, and Aderounmu Adejumoke. The TV show is a spinoff of the movie Jenifa. FunkeAkindele and OmoniOboli, who produced and directed the franchise’s “women on strike,” are the leads of the 2018 comedy film Moms at War. Akindele launched Aiyetoro Town, a spinoff of her well-liked TV show Jenifa’s Diary, in July 2019. Her debut feature as a director was the political drama “Your Excellency” 2019. As CEO, she oversees Scene One Film Production.
In order to whet moviegoers’ appetites, Akindele published a trailer for her most recent film, Battle on “Buka Street”, on October 3, 2022.
The actress has previously co-directed Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which broke box office records and EbonyLife’s Your Excellency. Battle on Buka Street will be her third project as a director.
The new title is planned for a December release alongside other eagerly awaited films like Palava! from Inkblot productions and the Toyin Abraham-directed Ijakumo.
