Orji criticised the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, and the Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, for not being attentive enough to this rising problem. He pointed out how easy it had become to use sub-standard or fake products as commodities in the market. In fact, these banned drugs can be easily bought in Nigerian pharmacies even without a prescription.

Mike Ogirima, who is the President of the Nigerian Medical Association, has a confirmation about the delisting of these drugs in the European Union. So, the Senate has wasted no time in launching an investigation into the authenticity of the reports. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, commented that Nigeria should take the initiative to do some stand-alone research instead of depending totally on global bodies like the EU and WHO.
